POSITION OVERVIEW:

As part of a growing global Finance & Accounting team, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting accounting operations and month-end close activities across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, India, and other international entities within the Zema Global group.

This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with a strong sense of ownership and experience in a multinational SaaS or technology environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounting processes from end to end, ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting revenue recognition, and maintaining compliance across multiple entities and jurisdictions.

This is not a transactional accounting role. We are seeking someone who can operate independently, take ownership of key accounting functions, and thrive in a fast-paced, global organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the full accounting cycle for multiple domestic and international entities.

  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.

  • Lead assigned month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are accurate.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and supporting commentary.

  • Perform revenue recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 606.

  • Maintain deferred revenue schedules and reconcile related balance sheet accounts.

  • Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations and support cash reporting activities.

  • Support sales and indirect tax compliance through coordination of filings, registrations, and related accounting activities.

  • Utilize NetSuite ERP to perform accounting transactions, reconciliations, reporting, and financial close activities.

  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and resolve accounting matters.

  • Assist external audits by preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance automation, and support system implementations.

  • Support multi-entity and multi-currency accounting activities across the global organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

  • CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting designation preferred.

  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience in a SaaS, software, technology, or multinational organization.

  • Strong experience with NetSuite ERP, including general ledger accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end close.

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn and leverage AI tools to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and decision-making.

  • Demonstrated ownership of full-cycle accounting and financial close processes.

  • Prior experience in public accounting or working directly with external auditors.

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and its practical application.

  • Experience with revenue recognition, preferably within a SaaS or subscription-based business model.

  • Experience working in multi-entity and multi-currency environments.

  • Experience supporting global accounting operations and collaborating with international stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of sales tax and indirect tax compliance processes.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, complex formulas, reconciliations, and large data sets.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a dynamic environment.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in a high-growth or scaling SaaS organization.

  • Experience applying ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance.

  • Experience with FloQast or similar financial close management software.

  • Experience supporting external audits and statutory reporting.

  • Experience driving accounting process improvements, automation initiatives, or ERP implementations.

  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams outside of Finance.

Why Zema Global?

  • Be part of a rapidly growing company shaping how data drives decisions in energy and commodities.

  • Work with cutting-edge technology alongside industry experts.

  • Significant opportunity to impact strategy, revenue growth, and decision-making.

  • Join a culture that values innovation, collaboration, and autonomy to drive meaningful change.
