Title: Underwriting Assistant

Location: Remote - Ohio

Job Description:

We are seeking an Underwriter Assistant with experience in underwriting for business auto and other commercial package lines, including general liability, business property, and cargo. This role supports account servicing, eligibility evaluation, and post-sale client servicing. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong judgment and brings hands-on coverage experience to help support a profitable and well-managed book of business.

Your Impact:

  • Determine eligibility of incoming commercial insurance submissions
  • Use underwriting tools and historical reports to make sound underwriting decisions which help ensure a profitable book of business
  • Work with senior underwriters to strive for a book of business with a loss ratio lower than 40%
  • Review motor vehicle records and determine eligibility for drivers
  • Re-rate or revise rating as needed
  • Document underwriting decisions

Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Home state Property & Casualty insurance license preferred
  • Proven insurance underwriting knowledge, with commercial auto and other package risks
  • Minimum of two years insurance account administration with commercial auto and package business experience, along with ancillary corresponding lines proficiency.
  • Associate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related field. Extended years of insurance experience can partially substitute for lack of degree
  • Insurance industry educational certification(s)

Pay Range:

$24.00 - $30.00 Hourly
